Throw a Super Bowl Party for the Kids

Keep the Kiddos Entertained During the Game

Just when the winter doldrums set in, the Super Bowl gives us an excuse for a party. Why not host a party for your kids and their friends this year to watch the big game? A Super Bowl party for kids is a fun way to get them involved in the game and can grow into a tradition of hosting their own Super Bowl Parties!

Decorations: Decorate using streamers, plates, cups, and balloons in team colors. Incorporate football equipment and gear into your Super Bowl party decorations, and don’t forget the pompoms and foam fingers. Have a few inflatable footballs around for the kids to toss around during the party. Hang up a Super Bowl banner with a marker attached to it for the kids to sign. This will be a great memento for your child to remember his or her big Super Bowl bash!

Food: If you’re feeding teens, you’ll need a lot of food! Regardless of their ages, design a menu of kid-friendly foods such as nachos, chicken fingers, mini slider burgers, pizza, hot dogs, and bagel bites. You should also be sure to have plenty of water, juice, and soda on hand. If this sounds a bit overwhelming, consider throwing a potluck!

SignUp offers free, online potluck SignUp sheets and everything you need to organize is right at your fingertips. Keep track of who’s coming and what they’re bringing using the intuitive potluck planning wizard and easy-to-use scheduling tools. You can even share it via social media and email, eliminating endless text threads. SignUp provides automated reminders and real-time e-calendar syncing, and the other parents can sign up 24/7 from their computers or smart phones – no passwords needed. There are even ways to keep track of the kids’ food preferences and sensitivities.

Activities: Although commercials are usually part of the Super Bowl entertainment, they may not be appropriate for your smaller kid guests. Plan a few fun activities for during the break if your guests are ten years old or younger.

Toss around a football outside, play crab football with an inflatable football, or play football trivia. Simply research some questions ahead of time, divide the kids into teams and see who gets the most right answers. Reward the winners with football trading cards or Super Bowl Ring(pops)!

Dessert Bar: Set up a Make Your Own Sundae station and allow the kids to throw together their favorite combinations of ice creams and toppings. Or make s’mores over the barbecue in the backyard. If all of that is too much fuss, make sugar or chocolate chip cookies in the shape of footballs.

One last tip: If you want to watch the game yourself and the kids need supervision, consider hiring a babysitter to help out during the party!
